2001 in order to reduce the
vulnerability of people living in one of
the poorest areas in AJ&K, which is
also, prone to disaster. NVIDP is being
implemented through broad-based
participatory community organisations
and comprises of the following

Health care
facilities are virtually
non-existent in Neelum Valley.
Doctors are unwilling to stay in
such difficult locations with
poor facilities. Assessments
identified access to health care
particularly for women as being
the top most priority for the
population. In order to address
the needs identified by the
community Islamic Relief
launched Neelum Valley Health
Programme in July 2001.
To provide
access to basic health care
facilities to 43,000 people
affected by firing along the LoC
in Neelum Valley

Health Centre focusing on Mother
& Child Health which has:

doctors including two lady doctors
Diagnostic
equipment

Establishment
of a network of Community Health Workers who
are working directly and intimately within
their own communities.
