Access
to
basic
health
care
is a
fundamental
right
of
each
and
every
single
member
of
the
society.
However
just
like
many
other
basic
rights
most
of
the
people
either
do
not
have
or
very
difficult
access
to
basic
health
care.
This
affects
specially
the
mothers,
children
and
elderly
segments
of
society.
Out
of
the
8
MDGs
3
are
focusing
on
health
related
issues
which
are;
i)
reduce
by
two
thirds
the
mortality
rate
among
children
under
five,
ii)
reduce
by
three
quarters
the
maternal
mortality
ratio
and
iii)
halt
and
begin
to
reverse
the
spread
of
HIV/AIDS
and
the
incidence
of
malaria
and
other
major
diseases.
In
Balochistan
where
people
have
suffered
due
to
the
long
spell
of
drought
and
floods,
which
not
only
destroyed
their
livelihood
but
also
badly
affected
the
few
available
health
facilities.
The
people
of
Chagai
and
Kharan
districts
are
facing
severe
problem
of
access
to
health
care.
Islamic
Relief
(IR)
as
part
of
its
development
initiatives
has
started
providing
basic
health
services
mainly
focusing
on
MCH
(mother
child
health
care)
in
Kharan
and
Chaghi.
Currently
Islamic
Relief
with
the
help
of
Pakistan
Poverty
Alleviation
Fund
(PPAF)
is
running
two
Rural
Health
Centers
(RHCs)
in
Chaghi
and
Nokkundi
in
collaboration
with
the
Balochistan
Health
Department.
Also
in
partnership
with
the
European
Commission
Islamic
Relief
is
organizing
health
camps
in
rural
parts
of
Kharan
and
Chaghi
districts
benefiting
thousands
of
people
including
women,
children,
elderly
members
of
communities
and
men.
Granaz
a
six-year-old
girl
is
one
of
those
suffered
from
illness
for
long
time
due
to
no
access
to
the
health
care.
She
lives
with
her
rest
of
siblings
(two
elder
brothers
and
one
youngest)
in a
mud
house
and
a
hut
used
as
Kitchen.
A
latrine
which
is
constructed
by
Islamic
Relief
through
EC
funded
project.
Her
father
is a
daily
wager
with
not
sufficient
income
to
support
his
family
and
can
not
provide
sufficient
food
and
fulfill
other
needs
let
alone
to
pay
for
the
medical
treatment.
Granaz
is a
resident
of
Killi
Suleman
Soran
which
is
located
at
some
45-kilometers
from
the
main
town
of
Dalbandin.
For
the
local
residents
it
is
hard
to
reach
to
the
health
facility
as
they
do
not
have
easy
access
to
public
transport
system
and
can
not
pay
for
hiring
a
car.
There
is
no
health
facility
in
nearby
and
so
people
suffer
enormously.
As
result
of
the
assessment
done
earlier,
Islamic
Relief
held
a
free
medical
camp
in
Killi
Suleman
Soran
under
its
integrated
development
programme
funded
by
European
Commission.
Through
this
medical
camp
over
35
house-holds
(nearly
140
individuals)
benefited
those
who
did
not
have
ability
and
access
to
health
care.
Granaz
was
one
of
the
beneficiaries
of
this
medical
camp.
She
had
complaint
of
breathlessness
with
cough
and
fever
and
with
thorough
examination
she
was
diagnosed
with
Pneumonia.
Granaz
was
immediately
given
required
treatment
and
follow-up
by
Islamic
Relief’s
dedicated
doctors
that
resulted
in
her
complete
recovery
from
Pneumonia.
It
was
through
this
outreach
initiative
of
Islamic
Relief
that
a
precious
life
of
Granaz
was
prevented
from
death
through
timely
and
effective
medical
treatment.
There
are
hundreds
of
thousands
of
children
just
like
Granaz,
out
there
in
the
far
flung
deserts
of
Chaghi
and
Kharan
suffering
from
various
diseases
and
in
most
of
the
cases
embrace
death
due
to
not
having
proper
medical
treatment.
But
with
such
initiatives
organisations
like
Islamic
Relief
with
the
help
of
donors
such
as
European
Commission
and
PPAF
is
addressing
the
issue
that
these
communities
are
facing
and
saving
precious
lives.
